A Post Entitled Hin Chua: After the Fall
I’m a big fan of photos that focus on the man made rather than pictures of people, these photos by Hin Chua have an eeriness about them that nods to some kind of post-apocalyptic world, well one that didn’t include a big explosion. Enjoy.

A Post Entitled Gemini Multi-Shot Animator: Make animated GIFs with your iPhone
I’m a big fan of QuadCamera for the iPhone, who in their last update notes indicated that they may be adding support for animated GIFs in future. But that support is here right now with the very similar Gemini Multi-Shot Animator.
This app takes 2, 4, 8 or 16 shots at specified shutter intervals (0.1, 0.2, 0.5, 1, 2 or 3 seconds). You can then apply a variety of filters and export the results (either as a single image to the camera roll, or via email as an animated GIF. TwitPic is also supported).
You can specify all the important aspects of the GIF file (colour depth, dithering on or off) and choose from a variety of image sizes. It’s all rather well laid out. You can even import pictures back from the camera roll, making it possible to get creative with other apps. Perhaps you could use Brushes or something to make a finger painting animation?
It’s a paid app, about the price of two chocolate bars.
(I’m not sure how Posterous handles animated GIFs, so fingers crossed here!)
A Post Entitled More pictures of the #UKSnow in Cardiff
Taken on my walk into work this morning. I’m particularly happy with the picture of the statue and the detail of the snow on the branches. The pictures of the railway tracks and of Llandaff Cathedral from afar are both shots I seem to take time and again.
The fisheye shot ended up kind of ugly, but I’m sure the projection is accurate. Not a favourite, but I’m leaving it in anyway. It consists of four source images, stitched together in Hugin.
A Post Entitled Bootleg Falcon - my #thingaweek and #Daily365 for Sunday
I’ve decided that doing a daily design and a Thing a Week is a bit much work for someone who doesn’t do design or photography for a living, so I am going to be counting one photograph every week as a daily design, starting with this one.
For anyone unfamiliar with Thing a Week, it’s a Flickr photography group very much in the spirit of the design-a-day challenge. It’s open to anyone, so please join us if it sounds like fun to you.
This week’s theme was ‘Trivia’, and accordingly I will be including the following factoids with my entry:
George Lucas had a $150,000 contract for writing and directing Star Wars, but he cannily insisted on 40% of merchandising - something the studio agreed to because they had no idea of what a phenomenon the franchise would become. In just the first year 42 million small action figures were sold.
Lucas once said that the shape of the Millennium Falcon was inspired by a hamburger. This toy pictured however is a bootleg, and would not have profited the Star Wars empire at all. The ship behind is a Nostromo knockoff from Alien.

A Post Entitled A few snow pictures from this morning #UKSnow
I walked to work this morning in the hopes of getting a few nice pictures of Cardiff in the snow. I wish I had the day off to walk around snapping more, but this may be all I get.A Post Entitled Freedom #Daily365
Today’s daily design. Not much inspiration this evening, so I produced another image for my typographs series.
