You may recognise the props in the last two shots. The Dalek-tommyguns are from the terrible ‘Daleks in Manhattan’ episodes, while the jar with the strange alien creature used to house the disembodied hand of the Doctor that Jack kept around for a while.

For whatever reason, I found myself in the exotic wilderness of Nash, just outside Newport, today. They have a very expensive looking and somewhat overstaffed visitor center there, but it seemed to be popular with the twitchers.

Torchwood set photos: details, details, details
So, if Torchwood is such a super-secret, literally underground operation, then why do they brand everything? There is not a detail on the set that doesn’t have a logo - old or new - stuck to it somewhere. Even the drinking fountain! I had never realised from watching the show that the rift-manipulator, which is at the heart of the fountain structure, is a shrunk down version of the TARDIS...

A few more long exposure abstracts - probably the last I’ll bother doing - but I do like the effect. I want to grab a tripod and try and get some good quality night photography, so look for that later. I stumbled across my camera’s long-exposure mode a few days ago - here are some of the better results. Llandaff Cathedral features again, by virtue of being on my walk home. Luckily enough, there seemed to be some evening choir thing going on, so it was all lit up.

On the Tardis, Doctor Who set photos (part one)
Welcome aboard the Tardis. The ‘coral’ supports are literally paper mache, and very fragile. In contrast to the Torchwood set, the level of detail is much less, as some of these shots reveal. Don’t forget, Posterous will let you dowload full size images, which should be 1600x1200px!

Torchwood uses Linux! Ubuntu, to be exact...
Sadly this shot didn’t come out the clearest, but I spotted today that one of the computers on the Torchwood Hub set was running Ubuntu. It had VLC running, so I’m assuming that they use free software to play all the graphics that give you the illusion of a super-advanced OS. In related news, I got Ubuntu-eee up and running on my Eee PC 1000. Go me!

Photos: Urban and moorland
The picture of Cardiff Hospital was one of my early snapshots, but I’ve run it through GIMP here. The pictures of Bodmin Moor and Siblyback were taken in freezing conditions this last weekend! Again both, especially the Cheesewring picture, are heavily treated. The day was very overcast and all the photos came out dull.
